Chicago based FleetFlicks is all about pushing the short film to its potential.
We think there is no place on the web for quality short films. We think there is no place for up-and-coming filmmakers to showcase their work. This is why we created FleetFlicks. To foster a community of filmmakers, to connect them, to spark creativity among them.
Every other art form has venues for up-and-coming artists to make a name for themselves. Artists, graphic designers, poets and writers have literary journals, backed by universities and small presses that uphold editorial standards, to get their names and art into the public domain.
FleetFlicks strives to uphold the same editorial standards that filmmakers slave over in the creation of their art. We try to respond to every submission–acceptance or rejection–with constructive criticism and editorial comments because we believe that film, as with any art form, is a collaborative process that extends beyond the people who helped create it.
What Kind Of Short Films Do You Accept?
We accept short films that are entertaining and tell a story. We prefer not to see demo reels (not to say we have any particular aversion to them, we just think there is a place for demo reels, and it’s not on FleetFlix). We also do not accept music videos or home movies. Aside from that, we’ll take any genre or theme, so long as it meets our—lax—submission guidelines, which can be found on our submit page.
Why Should I Submit My Film To FleetFlicks?
In short, for personal exposure and to promote your art. You can submit your film here to not only do what every filmmaker sets out to do—entertain—but also get your name out there and share your reel and personal webpage with other filmmakers.
Who Picks The Flicks?
Collins Paris, a graduate in cinema, serves as editor-in-chief and works along side a small editorial team when considering submissions. We’re not strick or rigorous in our taste by any means, but if you really want to get an idea of what we screen, watch a video.
Chicago Roots
FleetFlicks is owned and operated out of Chicago. While this doesn’t in any way limit the submissions, it will hopefully strive to create the Chicago based film network needed to propel the midwest into the filmmaking spotlight.
What kind of Rights do you Acquire?
We acquire one time rights to screen your video on FleetFlicks and keep it archived on our server. However, filmmakers retain all rights of their work afterwards and may request the film to be removed at any time. We are merely in the postion to distribute films online for the sake of the artist.
